WHO WE ARE

Prior to assuming leadership of TMAI in May, 2023, Jed was Managing Director, Life Sciences at Planalytics, Inc., a business weather intelligence firm in Philadelphia, PA. At Planalytics, Jed worked with TMAI to jointly develop many of the reports, data products and services provided to global agricultural firms. Previous experience included FMC Agricultural Products (International Marketing in US and Mexico); Farm Journal Media (President, Information Resources Div.), AgWeb.com and Agrilance, (Joint Venture between Land O’lakes and CHS Industries.)

Dr. Kastens is Director of the Kansas Applied Remote Sensing Laboratory (KARS) and is a Research Associate Professor at the University of Kansas in Lawrence. At KU, Jude leads a team of statisticians, database developers and analysts focusing on remote sensing data for agricultural applications such as crop yield forecasting. The group’s work also includes hydrologic modeling, land cover change detection and ecological modeling. Jude also co-manages with his father, brother and cousins a 25,000 acre farming operation in northwest Kansas and Nebraska.
